Paul was a devout Pharisee, he savagely persecuted the first Christians. Later in his years he became Christian missionary who implanted the new religion in non-Jewish territories and established the first church. His conversion happened around the time of Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection. In the other scriptures he was a devout Christian a follower of Jesus Christ.
In Acts 9 his was trying to get papers to be able to go into the homes of Christians in the Roman and Palestine areas so that he could take them back for sentencing or death. He was trying to get rid of the Christian movement.
