Patient advocacy to me is actively promoting actions that could help our patients and keep them from harm and also make sure their values and wishes are respected.

Pharmacist can be advocates for their patients by helping them navigate the complicated healthcare system. They can also help them understand and obtain information on their condition, why they are taking certain medications, the different options for therapy that are available to them and so forth.

At my site the pharmacist makes sure there are checks and balances in place to ensure that the patient gets their needs taken care of. They also have an ethics committee, customer service and an administrator on call to provide patients with differents options in cases where they
