What Is Parking?

Improved Essays
The most concerning problem that results from the parking issue is students falling behind in class. Personally, I've been late to class multiple times because I've been stuck driving around in the parking garage for an hour or two. As a result, my ability to gain knowledge and stay up to speed with the course is hindered. Students miss lecture notes and key information that may be valuable for success in the class. In turn, this leads to unsatisfactory scores on tests and assignments. Parking should not be the reason why a student is not doing well in a course, and in my opinion should be deemed unacceptable. Students should be failing due to lack of care and effort not because of how lucky or unlucky they are at finding a parking spot in

As you may know, many of the students at Bloomsburg University commute and one area where students are permitted to park is the Geisinger Hospital parking lot area. Many students have complained about the lack of lightning. Being a solar street light construction company we would like to propose to have additional lights installed within the lots and the areas going down to the parking lot. We also propose installing lighting in the blue parking lot on upper campus. This lot is used by students that keep their car at the university while staying in campus dormitories.…

Free parking? It sounds like an idea too good to be true, and that’s because quite possibly, it is. At least that’s what Donald Shoup argues in “Yes, Parking Reform is Possible”. A public policy which allows an extensive amount of parking in a crowded city at little to no cost, regardless of budgets or consequences, will have serious negative effects to a community. Shoup predicts that we can achieve major social, economic, and environmental advantages at virtually no expense merely by subsidizing people and places, rather than parking.…

Before we found the desirable solution, we did many research about how did other university to solve the similar problems and tried to get some ideas from the information. By doing research and analyze the situation in Michigan Tech, we figured out three solutions for the parking problem. First of all, we think Michigan Tech could build a parking garage in campus to provide more parking space. Then we think Michigan Tech could limit parking to students by the age and need, just like forbidding first-year students to park in campus. Thirdly, we think Michigan Tech could install an off-campus parking lot for students and provide shuttles to bring them to campus.…

If you would have asked a resident in Grant’s Valley three years ago about 33rd street, they would have said that it’s a calm trail with a wonderful view of the river, old houses, and trees, where locals do their shopping, hiking, or get their morning coffee. However, this is no longer the case, the old houses have been converted into expensive businesses that attract tourists. The calm environment is now an issue for the locals because the tourists cause traffic and take residential parking spaces when trying to get to 33rd Street. Solve all the residential complaints caused by 33rd Street businesses, changes must be executed by city council to save the precious neighborhood.…

I now have to give myself an hour to get to class, which is abnormal for living an approximate 5 minutes from campus. Not only is getting to class on time an issue because of the buses, but getting home after a class is even more difficult. The line for the buses to get home on route thirty-six is constantly backed up after classes let out. Students typically have to wait for two buses to come, or pack into the bus and stand uncomfortably for their ride…

A recent discussion has came up about how some schools in the eastern part of America have made the rule that if a student isn’t maintaining a 2.00 GPA or higher, their licenses can be revoked. While this is difficult for some people around the country to come up with an agreement on, many people disagree with it. Taking away a student's car for getting bad grades is an unfair idea. Granted, taking away a student's car because they are getting bad grades might make the student try harder in school. Yes, if student notices themselves getting bad grades, it could possibly motivate them to work harder in school and show more effort.…

Due to the breakdown of my car around 3:30pm on October 6th as I was approaching the University on Olster road, I rushed to park at the nearest garage which was just at the entry of the University Union garage. With fear and confusion flooding my mind also being my first semester at Towson University, I roamed around University Union building in search of the parking services office. With no avail after about 10-15mins I decided to go back to the parking lot. As I arrived I was greeted with a citation and luckily the issuer was still there and directed me to the parking services administration office after he also witnessed my grievances. When I got to the office, I laid out my plea, in addition requested for an extension to park until the…

For apartment residents who own cars here in Queens, it is almost selfish for private apartment companies not to include enough parking space. Finding parking is like looking for life on Mercury - impossible (simile and hyperbole)! People waste a good amount of their time trying to park their car in their own neighborhood! In order to fix that problem, underground parking lots exclusively for apartment residents could be a possible solution. Being underground not only saves space, but time…

In opposition, the closed campus supporters would argue that not all students should receive such trustworthiness from the school.
