Parasailing in Cape Cod
“Next group get ready,” said the boat driver.

The first group dipped their feet in the water. They were almost done with their turn and Joe, Mia and I were going up any minute. We had just got strapped into the harnesses. My heart was racing with excitement.
The driver asked the other passengers to scoot down to make room for the for the others to sit, while Joe, Mia and I got onto the platform. The instructor hooked our harnesses onto the huge purple and yellow parachute that was attached to the boat. We were ready to take off!

“Ready?” he asked.

“Ready.” we replied. We went up and up until we reached the maximum of 750 feet. Our legs dangling from the harness. Was this safe? We were up 750 feet in the air attached

So I slowly grasped the sweaty handle bars of the zip line and the conductor tightly put the black belt on my waist. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I took one deep breath and started thinking about how much I had to do in life and if I should go on this risk taking ride. Though, my fear was there, I thought about how this zip line wasn’t that long and could probably come back in 2 minutes, and I could always close my eyes which sort of helped to relieve my fears..…

The countdown continued “five.. four.. three.. two.. one.” Then we took off, and the force of gravity left us pinned and immobile in our seats. We continued to fly into space, a few moments later he told us that we had to drop our main engine compartment. After that went through with success, he said, “If something happened to go wrong, you wouldn’t have enough fuel to return to the Kennedy Space Center. Managing to break free from the first set of waves, I pushed forth into the next set of unceasing five foot waves. With legs bent upwards and arms plunging one after the other in a Michael Phelps mentality to finish the race with swift strokes, I kept my body centered in the middle of my seven foot board just like my grandpa positioned me to do so. With a split second to pause and raise my head to look over an oncoming wave, I made out the face of my grandpa, looking back at me from his own board and grinning at the look of my determined face to get out into the line-up. Eminent to the gray-haired “townies” who create their own spindrift from whipping the tail of their boards high in the air, is a homely beach, Rockpiles.…

The harness was less like a harness and more like one of those things the dentist lays on you when you get X-rays. After seeing the “harness,” my body rebelled. I flopped down on the cold concrete as uncontrollable terror swept over me. My two friends were incredibly entertained by this situation, as I could see them through my tear-blurred vision with their cell phones out, recording me. That made me work up enough courage to put the dumb thing over my shoulders and accept the fact that I could possibly die in 10 minutes.…

Waking up to the smell of salt filled air, the sound of the waves crashing against the shore all just a few yards outside my window I was sure that this was going to be a great vacation on the beach even in the middle of September. Parasailing, snorkeling, dolphin cruises, and just playing around in the ocean, who knew we could pack it all into a matter of five days. On this vacation I enjoyed sunny, warm days, time with family, and time on the beaches of Destin, Florida. “The Thrill Is On at Just Chute Me Parasailing”, is one of the first things my family and I did.…
