What Is One-1 Interpersonal Communication

Decent Essays
Last week, I had the opportunity to interview Shawn. The one-one interpersonal communication allows the patient to open up to and I am able to see another side of them. On the floor, Shawn may look intimidating but after the interview I learned that he’s a sweet pleasant man. Majority of the interview, I was trying hard to make sense what he was talking about. It was hard for me to respond because I was not sure what he’s talking about half of the time. It was sad when he mentioned wanting to see and talk to his mother again. The relationship with his father and was hit by a pipe over his head at young age made me see another side of Shawn. A soft and gentle side of him came out. I am touched he felt comfortable sharing his personal stories.

He was quiet and sad when he heard the news but being at the funeral, I think made him realize it was all real. I held him morning, day and night, tear after tear. He would have made us all proud.…

Dr. Flanagan’s risk assessment I would say it compares a lot to the reading assignment journal, “A tool for the culturally competent assessment of suicide: The Cultural Assessment of Risk for Suicide (CARS) measure. Psychological Assessment.” Dr. Flanagan’s risk assessment interview with Tommi is base on the depression assessment. I noticed that Dr. Flanagan started the evaluation confirming her culture. According to Chu (2013), The range of research on cultural suicide risk factors is difficult for anyone clinician or researcher to comprehensively grasp or access quickly within the limited time often allowed in crisis situations.…

Reading, writing, speaking, and various other forms of communication have been essential to the evolution of human beings. Our species’ dominance today was preconditioned by communication, allowing us to excel in fields such as abstract thought, logic, and rationality. Thousands of years have elapsed since the alphabet, one of our most essential mediums of communication, was invented. This invention altered the methods in which we structure our thoughts and ideas, thus domesticating the human species into the cooperative junction it is today. However, this was only an invention, not a natural occurrence imbedded into the human intellect.…

In several ways, this interview confirmed my expectations of the counseling field. I anticipated private practice would involve a variety of tasks outside of my academic preparation, and I would need to develop entrepreneurial skills. I was not surprised to hear working with family members of clients could be extremely frustrating. The amount of continuing education and tailored research also fit what I anticipated. Although much of this interview affirmed my previous beliefs, there were some areas which caused me significant concern.…
