Many historians believe that Lincoln was one of our few truly great presidents for a number of reasons, even though not everything he did was perfect. Lincoln deserves his ranking as a great president because he was able to preserve the government of the United States and then restore unity to all of the states under one government. Lincoln's greatest contribution to the country was his ability to save the country from splitting into two separate countries. In his letter to Horace Greeley, Lincoln explains that he doesn't care if slavery is abolished or not, but only cares about keeping the country united. This shows how to determine Lincoln was to save the country and would do anything in his power to accomplish this (Document 1).…

George Washington could arguably be the best president but reasons as to why Washington was the nation 's most well done president can be drawn from before his presidency as a general during the revolutionary war. During the war he demonstrated great strength in leadership and intelligence, leading his outnumbered army away from defeat on two different occasions that gave them a much needed advantage that ultimately won the war. The first occasion was during the battle of Princeton on December 26th 1776 and in Morristown in 1777. During both instances, Washington seemed to be outnumbered and losing the battles but managed to outsmart the British on both accounts. Afterwards when he was unanimously elected by the electoral college in 1789 and…

Our president is going great things. He just proposed the Emancipation Proclamation to free slaves in the Confederacy if they did not surrender by January. I sincerely appreciate that we wants to help my people even though he is a white man. If this were to take place, all of the slaves going through torturous labor and treatment will finally be free. I remember when I was first declared a freedman; I was filled with hope of all of things that I could now do now that the horrors are now over.…

For roughly the past 100 years the presidential elections have been a very sensitive subject, and it begs the question of what makes a good president. Although there are generally a few presidents who rank at the top, to name someone the best president is very subjective. Opinions can change due to many reasons; the main being the political party one associates their self with. One way to gauge a president is by how many terms they served. Teddy Roosevelt had served two terms and, although he did not win the election of 1912, he is still generally considered to be one of the most effective presidents.…

The comic portrays the Nobel Committee with pure intentions and filled with hope, but also uses irony to highlight the absurdity of Obama winning the award. Humorously titled “Heavy Medal,” the comic depicts the Nobel Committee as a large, wizened, old man. He is shown instilling hope and trust in the newly elected President Obama, without any signs of manipulation of trickery, when he simply awards President Obama with the Nobel Peace Prize. There are no “shady deals” or unscrupulous promises made between the two, the Committee plainly believes that Obama is worthy of the award. The scene is an all white background, showing the seemingly simplicity of the decision the Nobel Committee had to make, which further exemplifies the pure intentions of the Committee.…
