What Is Non Chemical Compound

The chemical formula for Dextrose is C6H12O6. Dextrose bonding is molecular covalent because it is composed of nonmetal atoms, it dissolves in water, and it is not conductive. Baking soda’s chemical formula is NaHCO3. It is ionic because is is composed of a metal (sodium) and nonmetals, it is brittle, and it dissolves in water, where it conducts electricity. Salt’s chemical formula is NaCl. It is ionic because it also has sodium, a metal, and a nonmetal. It is also a brittle solid, soluble in water and conducts electricity when dissolved .
When you set sugar on fire, it loses its form, going from solid crystals to a dense liquid. It also changes in color, going from white to deep brown. When you burn a plastic bag, it (sort of) melts and blackens.

For this experiment, a group was employed by the Environmental Protection Agency as analytical chemists. Their goal was to identify an unknown compound that has been discovered in a landfill in their hometown. Once they identified the compound, they would then have to determine both the chemical and physical properties of the compound in order to inform the townspeople of any potential dangers. During the first week of lab, the group was given a small bottle containing an unknown white crystal-like substance.…

Given an unknown compound in container 3, solubility tests, cation tests, anion tests, and conductivity tests can be used to determine the various properties of the unknown to then make a positive identification of the unknown. These results will not only show chemical and physical properties but also what the unknown compound might react with to form other compounds. After performing the four anion tests, a positive identification was able to be made showing that the unknown compound contained a chloride ion since a white precipitate was formed from the reaction (Table 1). The sulfate, nitrate, and carbonate tests all yielded negative results when no precipitate was formed. The reaction of the chloride anion is as follows: Cl-…

The attraction that holds the oppositely charged ions together in the ionic compound is called an ionic bond. Ionic compounds are hard, brittle solids with high melting points. Most ionic compounds are also electrolytes, which are compounds that separate into ions when they dissolve in water, producing solutions that conduct electricity. In addition, most ionic compounds form three-dimensional crystals, in which many of each kind of ion in a fixed ration are held together by their ionic bonds. Sodium hydroxide is an ionic compound, which sodium is the metal cation (Na+), and hydroxide is the non-metal anion (OH-), more specifically, sodium Hydroxide’s hydroxide is a polyatomic ion, an ion made up of more than one atom that acts as a single particle.…

Golding’s description of fire/smoke helps develop it as a symbol to reinforce the idea that fire/smoke establishes a source of hope. When Ralph and Piggy first land on the island, they meet up with the other boys. They choose Ralph to be their leader, in which he decides that the only way to be rescued is by making fire/smoke. Golding’s words describe how Jack starts the fire: “Almost at once a thin trickle of smoke rose up and made him cough. Jack knelt too and blew gently, so that the smoke drifted away, thickening, and a tiny flame appeared.…

Any type of book, he would burn it because the government didn’t want them to read. In the government’s eyes, reading causes people to be sad and stressed and they don’t want that. So they have these firemen that raid people's house, by others’ submission in the fire station.…

Discussion There were four goals for Project 11: Identification, Properties, and Synthesis of an Unknown Ionic Compound. The first goal was to identify the unknown compound, the second goal was to determine the reactivity of the compound, the third goal was to determine the quantitative solubility of the compound in water, and the fourth goal was to find the percent yield of a product from a reaction involving the unknown compound. Determining the identity of the unknown compound was achieved by performing a variety of tests for the physical properties of the substance. Some of these properties, such as melting point and chemical structure, could be discovered by making a few immediate observations of the substance. The unknown compound…
