Necrotizing fasciitis, more commonly know as “flesh-eating disease,” is a potentially life-threatening bacterial infection if left untreated. This type of soft tissue infection is capable of destroying skin, muscle, and even fat tissue in a very short period of time. The infection begins in the skin’s fascia, a band of connective tissue that stabilizes muscles and other internal organs.
