Philosophy of Nursing Building a philosophy of nursing is an important aspect of nursing. Expressing your unique nursing philosophy is valuable in guiding your nursing care. There is no wrong way to create a personal philosophy of nursing (Hountras, 2015). The most important thing is that your philosophy is meaningful and applicable to your practice of nursing (Hountras, 2015). Many different parts go into creating a philosophy, which includes the various aspects of a philosophy of nursing compared to nursing standards and theories a link between my philosophy of nursing and the nursing profession.

Nursing a profession that is based on scientific research, theory, and concept centered, which is science based, however, nurses use the art of caring and focused on health care outcomes. Nursing and caring are grounded in a relational understanding, unity, and connection between the professional nurse and the patient (Jasmine,2009). The essence of professional nursing care is best embraced by an approach that includes its artistic and scientific dimensions (Jasmine,2009). Both nursing 's art and its science are essential for excellence in the performance of overall care (Jasmine, 2009). A statement I like to make is that nursing is like a dance, at first it is a bit clumsy but later it flows like a dance. Adam’s model states that the nurse is responsible for meeting the patient’s fundamental need with the idea that the nurse is there to support the patients in gaining independence in meeting the basic health needs (Johnson & Webber., 2015). Another similarity to my philosophy and Adam’s conceptual model that the nurse is expected to demonstrate qualities such as empathy and respect (Johnson & Webber., 2015).
