I look through my pictures over the past 3 years and I am still making silly faces or smiling ear to ear. I do not think my personality has changed that much throughout the years but I also have not been through any serious traumatic events and my parents are still together which I think definitely has an impact on one’s personality. When I was younger I always found myself falling in love with the idea of traveling and flying airplanes and here I am at the age of 20 still obsessing over traveling different countries and beginning my career as a pilot. My beliefs line up with the trait approach that states that personality traits are stable through the majority of an individual’s life (Weinberg & Gould, 2014). I also think that that situation approach matches up with a lot of people who have had certain situations that they have to adjust to (Weinberg & Gould, 2014). One reason is so they know how that athlete will react in certain circumstances. In my situation, my coach knew what happened and was able to understand why I started performing differently on the field and even off the field. A coach should understand their athlete’s personality structure. This structure includes psychological core, typical responses and role-related behavior (Weinberg & Gould, 2014). When a coach can understand more than just the athlete’s role-related behavior, the effectiveness tends to increase and the coach can get a better understanding of who the athlete really is (Weinberg & Gould, 2014).
