After couple days later, I adapted my lesson to make it more fun and engaging to kindergartens by relating to their interest at the moment. I learned that because I planned my lesson ahead of time not knowing much about students interest, I had hard time managing the class during my lesson, and I was never able to finish on time. However, more I got to know students, I was able to plan lessons that got students engaged. For my internship, I want to work on getting to know students interest which will help me with classroom management, and also time management where I can complete my full lesson on time.

Using KWL chart really helped me with planning my lesson because at first I was going to start by explaining ways to help the earth from being polluted, but since I am teaching it to kindergartens and many do not know the concept of environment, what lives in our environment, and why we have to help our environment. One student even said “why do we have to clean our environment? We can all move to space”. Knowing where students are at and what their thoughts are, I was able to create a lesson that provide students with different ways of adding depth to learning. I used youtube video, lots of book reading, hands on learning in different centers showing pollution. Also for every closure I had students come back to the carpet circle to tell me what they have learned to assess their learning.
