People approached me saying they couldn’t wait to see the production. My family sent me encouraging text all day. My cast members all looked up to me in this time. When the curtain opened that Thursday night, I felt something I have never felt before; just me and stage. After every dance scene I could faintly see the audience’s reactions of the loud roar of screaming. When the show was at its end, it was time for curtain call. As I bowed, the whole room stood up on their feet and cheered. The rush of seeing my whole school excited for me was life changing. I knew at that moment this what I wanted to do. My path in life was to change the world with the power of the arts. Fast forward to now, I am a junior currently preparing for college auditions. The upcoming summer I am spending three weeks in New York at the Joffrey Ballet School studying musical theatre. I take dance, voice, acting, and piano lessons gearing up for my new path. In addition I take great care of my health by eating a balanced diet with many superfoods while I workout on a regular basis. I also make a personal goal of making many great relationships with the people also interested in theatre to help my path stay forward. I am so thankful for having the chance to be a lead. My thrill of joy and over excitement has not changed since that day. I am striving to be the best person I can be and using my talent for good. I want to be able to inspire people

Before I knew it, I was having my last performance. The awards were going to be announced, at the end of the concert and I thought that one of the other girls were going to receive the award. This was my perception because I thought that one of the other seniors had deserved more than I had. I thought that there had to have been another member of the color guard who had worked their butts of more than I did and deserved to be recognized for it. As I was contemplating on who would deserve the award, my attention was drawn to the performance area.…

My hope is that I am able to continue dancing and acting for the rest of my life and because of this I am eager to take in as much as I can. Because of these particular goals I have set out to spend as much time as possible in rehearsal halls and dance studios. This year especially has been me balancing dance classes every night, performing in The WIZ at First Stage children’s theater, and take acting classes every weekend at First Stage all while keeping just over a 4.0 GPA. Summers are not typically a break for me either. If I’m not taking a company acting class you can probably find me interning at First stage trying to earn credits for future classes.…

Fear and immaturity were once snags that prevented me from committing to a professional path in the allied health. It plagued and produced gaffes during my undergraduate studies at Stony Brook University which then led me to put the desire on hold. In hindsight, it was the best decision because discovering and developing myself as a person was necessary before achieving any kind of future success. After college, I entered a Master’s program in Statistics/Actuarial Science at Columbia University. It was there that I fortified my strengths in quantitative reasoning and where I credit my aptitude for problem solving.…

What does theatre mean to me? As I review the questions provided for me to include in my goal statement, I feel lucky to express how theatre is unique to me and how I structure my everyday life around the dramatic arts. Anytime I act, I relish in the opportunity to be a leader, to help people, and to accomplish my actions with confidence. I started off with this philosophy at an early age and have not forgotten about it since. In my opinion, acting is not solely about the individual’s performance, but about how an individual actor can use their confidence and passion to impact other actors, enhance a production, and inspire the audience.…

You spent much of your childhood attending plays while getting captivated by the fantasy being brought to life before your very eyes and now you want to become part of it. Dancing in the Spotlight Standing in the spotlight is a very frightening, gut-wrenching accomplishment. Dancing alone in the spotlight can be even more so. I experienced dancing in the spotlight two years ago, when I played the part of Clara in the Nutcracker. Of course, it all started with dance, or rather, without dance. My mom was driving me to the studio, but I was not feeling well, so she strode inside to inform my teacher I was unable to dance that day.…
