Life in the Garden

My life before Coriander was bleak, living in this lonely world; I was surrounded by countless possibilities and my endless thoughts of the future.

Just a mere few summers old, I remember sitting in the garden with my mother eating biscuits and discussing what path my life would take. Of course, neither one of us knew but we hadn’t a care in the world, for I was a small boy with a life full of happiness waiting for me around the corner. If only I was brave enough to take a peek… It hadn't always been all sunshine and fairies, there was a time that I couldn't help but feel sad, for each passing day – as the sun made its appearance and said goodbye – there was something holding me back, this invisible force, which I couldn't

We would bump into each other and fool around, dancing till the sun disappeared beyond the horizon. She was the light of my life and with every passing day my bond grew stronger till it hurt to be apart. This was a problem as when the time came to return to my residence after a great day with my best friend, I would not only turn into a fox, becoming the ‘fox prince’ but I would also lose all connection with Coriander and this great friendship which I may have hoped could blossom into something more was simply a speck of dust in my existence. I needed to find a way to overcome these obstacles that were stopping me from getting exactly what I wanted. I was, am and always will be Tycho, the Fox Prince – no one could take that away from me and if Coriander could become my Princess then we could live a prosperous life filled with happiness and have little offspring running around and I would be the happiest fox on earth! I know this all sounds very far fetched but you have to dream big to achieve and hopefully by doing this it will all work out in the …show more content…
It requires constant visits to the real world but I'd do anything for Coriander. One of my good mates Medlar, has tried on numerous occasions to get me to escape the horror that is the magical world I live in to get back to reality so I can be with my true love but alas the rules of the kingdom dictate that once the day of the nuptials are set then unless the woman changes her mind the wedding is to proceed as normal.

With so little time remaining I needed to think of a plan and fast. So with the help of Medlar, we devised a plan that will get me out of this mess I am stuck in. The plan is to come down with a terrible case of elixirium preventius, which can ensure I am in terrible shape for the wedding therefore requiring the wedding to be cancelled all together. Unwin won’t want to associate with me and as this disease is incurable, unless she wants to risk contracting it too then it would be wise to stop all contact with

Leaves and twigs crunch with each step against the hard, gravel floor. Tall, sturdy trees towered along either sides of the path, the canopies forming a gentle arc, almost as though they were cradling me. A very slight breeze whisks through, a few branches swaying to the melody of the wind. The humidity would be unbearable, if not for the occasional whiff of wind that caresses my skin.…

My experience with the after school book club at Madison Elementary today was an exciting yet my patience was tested by a seven year old little boy named Jose. Today I was excited to see if my group would enjoy the book, “Where the Wild Things Are,” due to the fact everyone agreed they enjoy reading adventure books. Consequently, one of my group members, Jose, had already read the book and watched the movie and let the whole group know it was “boring.” Already bored he instantly lost interest in the book and the group and was making it known by distracting the other group members around him. Usually his partner in crime, Gilbert, agrees with him and goes along with him but this time was different and he ignored his friend because he was actually…

"The garden is a familiar place tamed by humans to serve social purpose such as growing food," (Nimmo, & Hallett. 2008 pg32) with that concept in mind the "Growing a Green Generation" project began. The project was to engage infants through kindergarten in the natural world, and offer the opportunity to learn skills and concepts of gardening. The article described endless opportunities for kids, a place to play and explore, safe risk taking, building relationships and understanding diversity.…

How many people get to say that they have nine miles of hiking trails and streams right in their backyard? I had moved houses five times before I even reached middle school so when we moved to our current home, I didn’t think we would stay more than a couple years, but thankfully that was not the case. When we first settled in, I noticed a path leading into some trees behind our condo building and knew I had to explore. As I walked through the initial thicket of trees on the dirt path, I saw several bird houses in a field of flowers with another trail leading deeper into the woods. I took that trail and soon found that it broke out into three more trails, then into another three, and then another three.…

Up until about 2 years ago, almost all of my perceptions stemmed from what I learned in the environment I was raised in. I did not have my own opinions or beliefs. And I certainly did not have my own way of looking at things. Everything I knew was taken from my everyday life in the incredibly conservative and religious household I grew up in. It was only at eighteen that I took a step back and evaluated my life.…

Gardening was a ‘forced’ hobby for a good portion of my childhood. Since elementary school, I worked with my dad in our back yard; I would dig holes, carry bags of manure, and plant flowers and trees. I complained that it would be easier to go to the store and buy a bag of blackberries instead of toiling in the sun for hours to achieve the same thing. I never imagined that I’d end up gardening for fun. Every year, my brother and I would collect the fruits of our labor; every year, I’d appreciate my efforts more and more.…
