From the minute that someone walks into their home, they are offered tea or coffee and whatever home baking my grandmother has prepared, to be brought on a tray with fragile china only guests are allowed – I have never been granted such privilege. If they refuse, however, both are deeply offended and the guest will be given it anyway. The phrase “no thank you” lacks meaning in their home.
