The wind whispered around her face as she galloped through the valley. Everywhere she went was beautiful. The grass was always fresh in the morning. She was the great black horse.
Meanwhile, in a castle far away lived Mitchewess, a greedy king. He was on his throne when his servant burst in. “King! There has been news about a horse in the valley that can’t be captured! Everyone has failed!”
The king said, “Bring her to me.”
“Of course, sir,” said the joker.
Five warriors on horses galloped into the valley to capture the great black horse. The great horse was not aware that she was being hunted down. Suddenly, a lasso coiled around her neck, and she was pulled to the ground, a muzzle tightened to her mouth. She was brought to the king who tied her to a fence with nothing to eat.

He then named the great black horse “Day.”
Zia and Day headed to the lake for a drink. Zia suddenly fell in the lake. Day jumped in to save Zia, but she was too late; Zia drowned in the lake. Day was alone until a white horse named Georgan who was twelve weeks old came along. Day and Georgan became friends and wandered into the meadow. Georgan got laurel poisoning and was taken to hospital. Georgan recovered and came back. Later, they met Sunshine, a ginger horse; Chestnut, a brown horse; and Leopold, a white horse with black spots on her
