The most reasonable reason for people not to vote is because of a major event in U.S. history. There have been highs and lows in the amount of voter participation. At an all time high in 1960 at 63.8% of people voting, and at an all time low in 1924 at 48.9%, and around 55% of eligible voters voted this year. Most young people don’t vote on elections, simply because it doesn’t interest them enough to put forth the effort to vote. You see more a turnout on the opposite end of the spectrum. If it were easier to get registered to vote, more people would do it. Those who are older have already registered and have no need for an easier registration process. Elderly peoples may vote more so if topics like health care, retirement, or social security are topics backed by a candidate running for president or another higher position in government like a governor.
Based of of research, and recent polls,you can see very much so that the voter turnout has decreased drastically, and continues to decline due to lack of interest, relatable candidates, relatable topics of discussion, and gumption by new voters just turning 18. Voters of older generations simply sometimes cannot get out due to not being able to travel in a vehicle to get to a polling station. In the current situation we can and need to increase the representation of the american people, and have a better voter
