In life everything is like being on the road, and we never know what is up ahead.
Everything I have learned in my life have shaped the person I am today. Through the years I have learned many things that transformed me, and made me a different person, a person that is now able to reflect and have a more precise and concise point of view on any domain than in my younger age. I am from a very big family with 6 brothers and 2 sisters. The very first steps for me in understanding anything started right at home, in my family. Before I get to school I knew many things already such as counting, days of the week, months of the year, the alphabet. I learnt all those things from my parents but mainly from my elder brothers. When my elder brothers were in primary school I was still very young maybe three but was old enough to remember everything I heard.
My parents used to set for my big brothers a schedule on what to do, about anything that had to do with school. Every day they had a specific task related to their class timetable.
Sometimes they were forced since they were still young too, to read, to memorize their lessons, to do some mathematics as well. During their study time I was always around and listening and repeating everything I could hear. After a while my parents realized that I could even read by myself since I knew even the alphabet. From all their study time I memorized too, and was trying to imitate them sometimes even singing the songs they used to learn. From the memories that I can still have from those days I remember that really enjoyed it. Sometimes I was repeating after them just like any child would. At times it was funny, and I was even laughing when doing it, since in my mind the meanings were not clear

The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls is the kind of universal story that every single person can relate to in certain ways. You can either relate to the struggles of having an alcoholic parents, or draw similarities to parents who are absent from day to day life for one reason or another. You may even be able to relate to the way that Jeanette was bullied just because she looked and lived different than others. In her story, Jeannette not only shows the hardships that she had growing up with an alcoholic father and an off-the-line mother, but she shows how her and her sibling all dealt with this upbringing, and how all of them ended up differently because of the way they were raised. We watch them all finally understand that the way they were…

Trying to truly remember when I learned to read is kind of difficult especially starting at very young age. I do remember my grandmother telling me that my reading skills were very good compared to others who started out like I did. When my siblings heard about how good my reading skills were, they encouraged me to read more books so I could get more practice. Since I was always around my grandmother, reading had become interesting…

Reflecting back on how my personal learning network has grown throughout the variety of roles I have held in public education, this assignment has helped me to realize that social networking tools have played a much bigger role in my professional learning than I had originally thought. As a whole my network seems to be a balance between print, digital and face-to-face interactions. Currently, I am a member of ASCD and enjoy getting their monthly publications and do take time to read the quarterly books that are sent. Professional reading has always been an enjoyment for me and seems to guide my digital searches. I enjoy Pinterest and searching Google images to see how other educators are putting the ideas I have read about into practice.…

For me education and learning haven’t always been something I enjoyed. Some of it was good while some of those moments were horrible. Three of my biggest learning experiences were learning to read and write, going back to study and learning to accept myself. Interpersonal communication is the process of sending and receiving information between two or more people. It is a person-to-person contact, it includes everyday exchange that may be formal or informal and can take place anywhere by means of words, sounds, facial expression, gestures and postures. Two significant learning points for me during this course was in module 3, using the I-language instead of you-language which gives power over our thoughts, feelings and emotions to others. To take responsibility for your own feelings, rely on I language rather than you language. I language owns thoughts and feelings and does not blame them on others (Wood 125).…

You are in class one day when the teacher announces a new assignment: students are to research and give an informative speech about any topic of their choosing. As the student, imagine that you are terrified to not only present the speech in front of your entire class, but to have to go through the process of picking a topic, researching it, organizing your speech, and practicing it as well. At the beginning of my communication class, this was how I felt about producing and giving speeches. I was nervous to talk in front of the class because I have always been very shy and have suffered from extreme speech apprehension. I also dreaded picking a topic and organizing my speeches as well, since I could never make up my mind and I was never good…
