Persuasive Essay On The Gift Of Life

Decent Essays
What is life, if not the greatest miracle in the perceivable universe? Can you conceive the extent of the greatness and grandeur of our luck to be amongst the few chosen individuals throughout the entire history of this planet to be able to share and rejoice in this gift of life? Would you even consider it in the realm of possibilities to believe that any man, living or dead, could ever come to an answer to even just an exponentially small amount of the questions that fascinate the human mind? What are the greatest and smallest things in this dimension? What is our purpose as the most intellectually advanced creatures that exist, to the extent of our knowledge, in this universe? Who is God? What is God? Where does true power come from? What …show more content…
I would honestly recommend it to any human being that has the courage, intellect, and strength to do so. The catch however, is that it is the most impotent idea to any living person unless it truly comes from within. This brings me to my next point, which is: what do you do once you’ve accepted that a quest for a more logical existence is fruitless? How do you help someone to see the truth about life in the same way that you do if the only way that this can be done is if the person comes up with it on his or her own? Even if you could, would you want to, or would you consider it immoral to push your beliefs on others? I do! This is why this entire essay is somewhat controversial. Any critical thinking mind could easily make a strong argument about the paradox that is at the foundation of my beliefs by asking me this simple question: “How can you affirm that it is highly immoral to push ones beliefs on another, and yet still take the time and effort to write an essay with the intention to influence others to think in the same way that you do?” I have no great argument against this and no groundbreaking philosophical revelation for you. My beliefs are my own, and like many others I honestly and truly see nothing but advancement and progress for the human race as a whole if only everyone shared my ideas. This is in fact what I am getting at. All beliefs and philosophical ideas seem to share one crucial factor in common: “if only everyone thought like I did, my philosophy would save this

According to a poll conducted by Forum Research in June 2016, 72% of the 2,271 Canadians they surveyed are in favour of assisted death in Canada. Like many of these Canadians, I also believe that each of us should have the right to end our lives in our own terms. For one, medically-assisted dying gives people the “ability to make other arrangements to allow themselves to spend their final days in a more comfortable and personal setting.” Second, euthanasia can help shorten the grief of the patient’s loved ones. Not only that, assisted dying also unloads some of the financial burden their families might undergo after the patient dies.…

People who are Pro Choice believe that a women should have a right to abortion, and people who are Pro Life believe that a fetus is life and abortion is murder. Still it is clear that Pro Life is the right choice because every life counts no matter what. Abortion has been a controversial topic for decades because it reflects a person’s morals, beliefs, and rights. Critics of the Pro Life movement say that abortion is a decision a woman gets to make because she has rights as a citizen. Supporters of the Pro Life movement say it is unacceptable and goes against basic ethics.…

If someone comes to me with beliefs that are different from my own, I will try to modify my opinion so it can match theirs in a similar way. If there is a debate going on about concept or some type of theory, I like to direct it more to a down-to-earth discussion, something more practical. Confrontation is something that doesn’t sit well with me, so I will try to find a common ground for everyone. I love being in an environment where everyone can come together as one with no problems. I know that there will be some situations where there may be some differences but if we are willing to sit down and work them out then I’m perfectly fine with that.…

The argument I selected is abortion, a historical subject that has issues dating back for hundreds of years (ProCon). The arguments for women to have the legal right to have the reproductive freedom to decide whether to carry a fetus to full term or not is what many supporters desire in their pursuit of the legalization of abortion. Here are some of the pros listed for legal abortions, safety for the women to obtain a legal abortion, in which then lowers the risk of the mother obtaining an illegal abortion. The pro-choice state that some abortions may alleviate the chance of risky childbirths in which could result in death for the mother and/or the child. Also the fact remains that it is the right of the mother to make the choice, so therefore if she wants an abortion she will make it happen legally or illegally.…

Abortion is one of the most disputed topics in the social and political areas today. The two sides for or against are for whether the unborn fetus is taken as a human yet or not. There may be disputes when the child is still a small egg, but does the morality change when it starts to count as a late abortion? That’s when we begin to question our true values. Because of life and death situations, late abortions should be an option for the birth mother.…

“I will not give a lethal drug to anyone if I am asked, nor will I advise such a plan.” This is the Hippocratic Oath which scholars estimate dates back to the fourth century B.C. Most modern day doctors mistakenly choose not to take this oath. The debate over an individual’s right to die dates back as far as the oath itself. This “right” has taken over society and has shown nothing but negative effects.…

Some people call themselves pro-life, I prefer to call myself anti-death. Most sane people would also agree that they are anti-death because they do not support the killing of innocent human beings. But what they fail to realize is that murder has been legal in the United States for the past 42 years. Abortion is defined as the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy but this is just a euphemism for the voluntary annihilation of an unborn child. In 1973, the Supreme Court made a decision on the case of Roe v. Wade ruling unconstitutional a state law that banned abortions except to save the life of the mother.…

Part of your most recent plan was to be here now, you chose this human existence that you are currently experiencing, you pre- planned every detail of your life in order to gain the maximum learning and adventure, and you choose to exit when you have completed all the experiences you planned for yourself. The world away from this world (the universe) is not separate from us, it is not some far away mystery; it is a logical, functioning, populated, progressive, divine place! Much like here on earth (without all the stuff), except here on earth we have temporarily forgotten the divine and infinite bits of ourselves! If I can be a bit honest here, as humans we have become self-obsessed, self-absorbed and rather blinded by our own self-importance.…

Against Assisted Suicide In many countries around the world, it is legal for doctors to prescribe a medicine that can potentially end a patient’s life if the patient wishes to commit suicide. In the United States, four states -Vermont, Oregon, Washington, and Montana- are the only states which have chosen to legalize assisted suicide (Backmann par. 6). Physician assisted suicide, also called assisted suicide, has become an extremely sensitive topic that has been debated by everyone, from academic scholars to everyday people, and has become almost as controversial as abortion.…

If you are a loved one was told you had six months left to live and could end up debilitating quickly from a terminal disease, what would you do? Would you go for hospice, palliative care, pain management, or would you consider death with dignity. Death with dignity is something some are not aware of this; as it is legal in only three states, legal with court approved in three states, eleven states considering it, twelve states considered it but did not pass the legislation, and eleven states with no activity with death with dignity. Death with dignity I feel should be a great law for all fifty states to pick up and it definitely would be my choice if I was ever given six months of life to live with a debilitating painful disease.…
