What Is Johnny's Relationship In The Outsiders

Have you ever been part of of a problem that was small, then became a huge problem to others? The Outsiders is a realistic fiction book written by S.E. Hinton. One of the main character was Johnny and he was part of a problem. In the book there are two gangs are Greasers and Socs. The main problem between in the story when the Socs leader Bob got killed by a Greaser. In The Outsiders, the characters had to build relationships in order to survive. Relationships are important because they are helpful during hard times,they allow for honesty and they encourage happiness. Family relationships are important in The Outsiders. “Soda was fiddling with some dead grass. "I mean, I can't take sides. It'd be a lot easier if I could, but I see both sides. Greasers can’t walk alone too much or they’ll get jumped, or someone will come by and scream “Greasers!” at them, which doesn’t make you feel so hot, if you know what I mean…“ ( Hinton 6) This quote shows my theme because it shows that people hate Greasers and they are a gang in which shows the bond they have together. The Greasers know that they have to walk together so they don't get jumped. Another example in The Outsiders of the importance of friends is when Johnny and Pony are in the church together. “He slumped down beside me. I didn't mean it like that, Ponyboy. Don’t cry, Pony, we’ll be okay. Don’t cry… I leaned against him and bawled until I went to sleep” ( Hinton 67).
