What is IVF and How is it Effective Today? In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is a controversial topic going on in the United States today. The Mayo Clinic describes the process by saying, “IVF is a complex series of procedures used to treat fertility or genetic problems and assist with the conception of a child.” Dr. Silber says, “Our IVF pregnancy rate is over 50% per attempt, regardless of diagnosis, and we accept all of the most difficult cases.” That shows that over half of the procedures done are successful, and they end with a new born baby. The process of IVF requires time and patience, but it can be worth it all in the end. IVF has become a popular topic in countries all over the world. Some of those topics being good, and some being bad. Many people do not believe that IVF is the right way to go when trying to have a baby, but many females cannot conceive children because of health issues and the risks they must take. There are numerous reasons that some females are not able to conceive a child, and over half of those reasons are health related. It does not seem fair to tell a husband and wife that they cannot attempt IVF because it is not humanlike. Imagine being told that trying to have a child is not right for the reason that doctors are offering help. If health reasons are the issue a family cannot have a child then they deserve a chance just as the next person does.
