Authoritarian. That word just sends chills down my spine. A parent with this type of style can expect a lot for their child. Sometimes even too much. I can tell one from firsthand experience that it IS NOT fun having a parent with this style! My mother has so many rules and critiques that it honestly drives me insane. She is constantly trying to help me with homework and studying, but she wants it her way. That is why I do not get a lot of sleep, because I am up late every night trying to learn it her way when if I do it my way I could be finished in no time. But my mom is my mom. We get in trouble for a bad grade and we are punished. We are pushed to the point of “Why am I not good enough?” I lie in bed every night and wonder “What can I do to be better?” 1 Corinthians 10:13 (NIV) says, “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind.
