On the tenth of April, the Titanic set out for New York. Many different people had boarded the momentous ship: painters, presidents, novelists, middle class citizens, and immigrants. Although not many survived, there were many passengers who survived to later tell their story about the sinking. Miss. Emily Louisa Badman was one of many passengers that survived from Clevedon, Somerset. She was an eighteen year old who was a passenger on the third class. She was traveling to see her sister, Pauline, in Skanteales, New York. Her memory of the Titanic was “Edward Dorking had helped her to put on a lifebelt,... have see[ing] shootings on the deck, and to have heard the band play ‘Nearer My God to Thee’.” She was later rescued by the Collapsible C. and was sent to St. Vincent’s Hospital in New York. A friend she had met while on the boat was getting married which later resulted in her staying in America. Emily married and had three sons, then later died on July 17,
