One of the biggest issues of the assessment is the measurement of specific attributes. Some assessments focus on one’s personal interest and values, while another may pull towards the aptitudes and skills of an individual. How valid is the assessment? The Industrial, Occupational, and Career assessments lack the validy of how useful the results are to an individual. This is stated because most people may like a certain field, but get hired in a different career field. But, depending on the assessment, some are general questions about a career or specific questions pertaining to a certain career choice (Gregory, 2014, section 11). The Myer-Briggs Type Indicator and the Strong Interest Inventory are most common assessments used to measure one’s career choice. The pros and cons of this assessment depends on what a person (the employee and employer) is looking for in a job. Using an individuals interest, talent, values, and skills, an individual can choose a career path that greatly satifity themselves. Saying, giving them the ability to make career choices on their own will bring growth to their personal goal. On the other hand, this assessment wouldn’t be so easy for an individual that is unsure of their career interest and skills.
