The definition of an illegal immigrant is a foreigner who enters the U.S. without an entry or immigrant visa, especially a person who crosses the border by avoiding inspection or who overstays the period of time allowed as a visitor, tourist, or businessperson. The reason the word illegal is used is because these acts that these immigrants commit are against the law in the United States thus making them illegal. The United States has these laws in place to keep the Americans at a higher importance for the job opportunities, wages, and government help. Illegal immigration has been a big problem in the eyes of Americans. Americans feel as though illegal immigrants are taking their jobs, creating crime, and lowering the unemployment rate for Americans …show more content…
They work as maids, taxi drivers and chauffeurs, butchers and meat processors, and construction laborers. A large share of adult immigrants arrives with little education, and are more likely to work low-wage jobs, live in poverty, lack health insurance, use welfare, and have lower rates of ownership. Why would they come here just to live like that, when they were probably living the exact same way in their country? They still should come here legally and come to be here the right way and not here on an expired visa, or had to lie. This is what Trump is trying to get across. Illegal immigrants receive over $1000 more in welfare than those who are not immigrants. Now how does that work? If you are born and raised in the United States shouldn’t you receive more than those who are here illegally? Although immigrants receive welfare through their American born children does not mean they should be receiving more than those here legally, in my opinion. The immigrants receiving the most benefits are the Mexicans and those from Central America, they receive 86% more than non-immigrants. When it comes to languages, use Americans in school, have to take a class like Spanish, French, German, and Chinese. We don’t have a choice to take one of these classes, so this should be the same for the illegal immigrants to learn English, if we don’t have a choice, then neither do they. They should know the basics of our language before entering our country because when they want to speak to us and we try to respond, we want them to be able to understand and respond
