The road to cleaner and more efficient energy production could be paved by hydraulic fracking. The combustion of natural gas emits significantly lower levels of carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide than the combustion of coal or oil. The result of lower levels of carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide is cleaner air and safer environment. In recent years 81% of new electricity capacity has been gas fired. So the United States is making more energy that is cleaner and more cost efficient because of fracking technologies. Natural gas/ fired power plants use less water than coal plants and nuclear power plants for the same electricity output.
