Possibility in Difficulty Every morning, the humankind wakes up to the same sun, upon the same ground, and to the same coming day. The world doesn’t change for anyone, but how the world is seen changes for everyone. We can chose whether to view everything through the jaded eyes of pessimism, or through the clear vision of optimism. Optimism is a very resilient and persistent element of human nature that allows people to continue to endure beyond the many obstacles that they may face. A description that best summarizes this and really expresses the essence of optimism is the belief that the existing world is the best of all possible worlds. My assertion that optimism creates the will to continue is made more believable with my fellow group member’s conclusion that optimism is focusing on the good things in life and making peace with the bad things. Upon reading this, I realized, that the way that optimism creates perseverance is through helping us savor the good times, and understand cope with the darker moments. What we take for a way of thinking can be so much more than an idea, rather, a way of life. Every morning, at the crack of dawn, rises a group of people who possess the ray of light that keeps the world turning. They, like the rest of the world, find difficulties and hardships, but rather than react with anger and despair, instead, these rare few find hope and possibility.
