Gun control laws have become a big topic over the last few years. Gun laws differ throughout the world which makes it more difficult to find the correct viewpoint of this topic. Most countries have become very strict with gun laws. The United States is working to strengthen gun laws due to many mass killings all throughout the states. “In fact there were three-hundred seventy two mass shootings and four-hundred seventy five was killed in 2015 alone.”(The Fight Over Guns In America.16). Making laws to get guns away from those they do not belong to is key. New laws have been set in place were large quantities of ammo and accessories are a lot harder to accommodate. “After 26 people were killed in a 2012 shooting at an elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut, So New York and Connecticut passed new restrictions on assault rifles and large-capacity magazines.” (The Fight Over Guns In America.16). The fight for control has only got tougher, black market sales has dramatically increased all over the United States. There is a lot of money being made in black market sells, which is the big incentive to why it is only gets larger. Sellers are selling weapons and ammo for double or triple the retail cost. Some situations like the mass shooting in Aurora, Colorado make lots of people think differently. “Holmes was what the NRA would describe as a responsible gun owner. He legally owned a couple of Glock 22 pistols, a Smith & Wesson M&P15 semi-automatic rifle with a 100-round drum magazine, a Remington 870 Express Tactical shotgun, 350 shotgun shells and 6,000 rounds of ammunition.” (Eichenwald Kurt. 41). James Holmes was considered a law abiding citizen until this day. One of the many reasons gun owners can no longer purchase large quantities of ammo and accessories. In this case how is it possible to control things like this? Should everything be banned all together or back ground checks be strengthened to another level?
