Each farm animal and conflict are allegorical to Soviet Russia. In the story, Orwell portrays how the animals are unaware of their power. After the rebellion, which represents the revolution, all the animals anticipate that their life would be exponentially better and they would get food and proper care with the intention for a society with no social classes and equality among all animals, similar to communism. The pigs, who are naturally the leaders, create a list of commandments that all supposedly follow. However, the totalitarianism rule that integrates itself into the government disregards the original values among the farm animals. The lack of education among the farm animals leads to brainwashed animals who are unaware of this situation. Squealer, the propaganda on the farm, ruins the equality on the farm when he uses lack of education among the farm to his advantage, therefore creating an unfair environment for the …show more content…
Boxer, an uneducated hardworking horse who is unaware of his power, works extra for the well being of the farm, but when he became weak, the pigs sent him to knackers to make horse products, so the pigs can buy whiskey. Squealer lies to the animals and ensures them he died peacefully in a hospital. One of the ways they did this was with saying things like "Jones will come back". None of the animals on the farm ever liked Mr. Jones, so when they were convincing the animals that something was right and this way is the best way, they would use "surely, you don't want Jones to come back". The animal government also switched the Seven Commandments around, and then used propaganda to convince the animals that it was fine, with an element of fear. Since the pigs were the head of the farm and they made all the decisions, they "deserved" to have the extra milk and apples and sleep in beds. Without all those things, they would not be able to make the best decisions for the farm and the other animals, and the farm would fall apart.…

In 1945, George Orwell wrote a dystopian and political satire called Animal Farm, a book which would reflect all the events leading to the creation of the Soviet Union. In the book, each animal/character is depicted as part of the soviet social structure. The Pigs, who are smarter, become the higher-ranking officials, Boxer becomes the ideal Communist worker, and the sheep, hens, and cows become the blind followers. Although animal farm is mostly a critique of Communism, animal farm can also be seen as a critique of Stalin’s approach to Communism.…

“Clover, who thought she remembered a definite ruling against beds, went to the end of the barn and tried to puzzle out the Seven Commandments which were inscribed there. Finding herself unable to read more than individual letters, she fetched Muriel” (Orwell 45). The inability to read proves to be a significant liability to the advancement of Animalism, the philosophy of the animals residing in Animal Farm. This makes the animals easy to cheat, and easy to convince. With Squealer to spread propaganda to further the pigs’ agenda, the pigs take the farm animals’ illiteracy to their advantage by changing the commandments written on the wall.…
