Sea turtles became endangered because of civilization's encroachment on their nesting environments, illegal poaching and fishing mishaps. Adult turtles nest and lay their eggs on land, and the baby sea turtles, after hatching, move to the sea because they're attracted to natural light over the horizon that reflects off the ocean's waves. Unfortunately, only about one out of 1,000 babies survives until adulthood because of predators that include birds, crabs, raccoons, dogs, aquatic predators and other threats that attack the eggs and hatchlings. Even adult sea turtles…

Recently, scientists have discovered fossils of an extinct species of turtles that particularly have snouts as noses, similar to a pig. However, because of its snout, it was named Golden's bacon turtle, or Arvinachelys golden. Usually, turtles have one nasal passage in their skulls because of how fleshy their nostrils are. Arvinachelys golden was found by a team from Natural History Museum of Utah and discovered the fossil at the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. In addition, this turtle also had a near completed forelimb, partial hindlimbs, and vertebrae from the neck and tail, unlike any other turtle ever recorded.…

I chose to write my summary on green turtles because I find them very interesting and I love the way they look. I recently went on a cruise and was able to visit a green turtle farm and it was an amazing experience. Green turtles are in a state of endanger because of several different reasons such as: threatening of overharvesting of eggs, hunting, getting caught in fishing gear and loss of nesting sites. Thousands of green turtles are caught in fishing nets and on longline hooks. Green turtles use oxygen to breathe so when they are caught in nets and on hooks they typically cannot reach the surface and eventually drown.…

Tortoises are not able to swim with the way they are built so they would drown even though they are able to hold their breath for a long period of time. This is actually possible for both animals because in order for them to retract into their shells they need to be able to fully empty their lungs. Tortoises can, and really do, live anywhere in the world besides areas of the extreme cold of course. Generally, they stay in warmer and drier climates. Did you know that the lighter a tortoise's shell the warmer the climate that they live in…
