Framed! by James Ponti, is a mystery fiction novel. This book takes place at a museum in Washington D.C at present time. The situation is at the FBI office, where a young boy tries to solve a crime case of a famous painting that was stolen. The main characters in this story are Florian Bates and Margaret. Florian, an ordinary 7th grader, had just moved to Washington D.C from Romania. His first friend he makes in Washington is a girl named Margaret, who is also a 7th grader from the school Florian will be attending, Alice Deal Middle School. Margaret is originally African, however, was adopted to American foster parents. She also plays for her school’s football team. As Florian and Margaret grew closer every day, they found out their hobbies, …show more content…
Florian’s parents work at the National Gallery of Art, a famous museum in Washington D.C. After they got the news of the crime at the museum, Agent Rivers was in charge of solving who the thief was and their goal. Unfortunately, Agent Rivers was getting nowhere with no evidence. Nonetheless, Florian thinks he knows who stole the painting. With nothing to expect, Agent Rivers asked Florian to help out the FBI solve the case. Agent Rivers and Florian had almost like a father-son relationship after working together for days after days solving the …show more content…
The FBI is trying everything to find evidence, but nothing is working. Florian then remembers the man from the museum that changed his identity and thought if he had anything to do with it. From then, Agent Rivers asked Florian to be a part of the FBI, using his T.O.A.S.T techniques and memory of the man. Florian learns that his theory, T.O.A.S.T, is the only thing that the FBI can use to find evidence right now. Now, all Florian wanted to do was solve this case, though it wasn’t that easy. Florian’s mother told him that he has to finish all his school homework before working on the case. Nevertheless, if Florian doesn’t solve the case quickly, it is highly that the thief will run even further away. It wasn’t long after the word spread all over Washington D.C, that a 12-year-old boy is helping out the FBI to solve a criminal case. Now, a group of criminals is targeting Florian. The author did a great building suspense with the pacing of action of the man glaring at Florian. This was my favorite scene because the chapter ended with the glare, which was a big cliffhanger. Without knowing this, Florian attended the Alice Deal Middle Schools home football game. What Florian didn’t see was the man on the other side of the bleachers glaring at him throughout the whole game. Is Florian finally caught by the criminals? Read the book to find out! Stephen Pastis has used character and style to create a story about an overly confident eleven-year-old who “runs” his own detective agency. Readers may not relate to the detective side of the story, but they will relate to Timmy Failure’s language and humorous reflection on the world around him. Pastis reveals Timmy’s strengths (his vocabulary and imagination) and his weaknesses (he’s clueless and not intrinsically motivated). The reader is able to identify with Timmy and enjoy jumping into his world of mistakes. In addition to character, Pastis’s style keeps the reader engaged through the use of simplistic drawings and a humorous tone.…
