The thought of homesickness and leaving my parents and home has always brought me horrible memories, and reminded me of painful experiences. Hence, being a subject that heavily influences my life, homesickness is something that I have progressively become more curious about. Every single time that I am challenged by the symptoms of homesickness, I always wonder why I was feeling the feelings that I did, and why I had the mind set that I held. It bothered me because homesickness was part of my personal identity, but I was so uneducated about it, that I felt I didn’t know myself to the fullest extent. Being a subject that affects a large proportion of my life, the Personal and Social capability will help me to become more self-aware, and consequently, aid me with my self-management. It would allow me to understand, and therefore, control myself to the greatest potential, thus, helping me to overcome challenges that I were unable to previously, due to a lack of self-awareness. The Personal and Social capability will allow me to connect with, and discover myself. I will be able to recognise what I want, need, and feel, to an extent that I would have never been capable of previously. Additionally, the Personal and Social capability, during my research, would also aid me in advancing my knowledge and understanding of how society works; allowing me to recognise their perceptions on conditions such as homesickness, and discern how society can manipulate or affect individuals. Through utilising this information, I would gain social management skills. Moreover, from what I would have attained from my research, I would be able to, I a sense, protect myself from society’s dangers. This will allow me to obtain information through the perspective of a third-party. Some objective qualitative research processes that I plan on using will include interviews with professionals, surveys, books, articles, research papers, and health websites. Objective qualitative research processes are valid and reliable as they allow me to obtain the views of professionals, who would be credible due to their extensive knowledge and qualifications. Additionally, professionals are often updated with the newest information, findings, and theories, hence, I will be able to ensure that my research is recent, and therefore, as relevant as possible. Moreover, this research process will allow me to acquire a medical and scientific perspective of my topic. Furthermore, objective qualitative research processes such as health websites would be reliable as they are often government owned, meaning that they would unlikely contain false information. That being said, it is likely that they will be biased in their views, decreasing their
