When I was 12 years old, my grandfather passed away. Being that my mother is an only child, she had to be with him a lot. My grandfather lived in England, and that is where my mother had to be when he was ill. I was in sixth grade at that time. The memory is still very clear to me.…
Erik Erikson’s final developmental stage, integrity versus despair, is fascinating to me for different reasons. Within this final stage, the elderly hold on to a certain pride of their younger years. Admiring everything that they did back in their day, even if it is something that might not always be something to be proud about. There are some elderly people who feel like they need to hold on to every little thing in their house. They just can’t find themselves throwing away the newspaper from ten years ago because it has a significant meaning to them.…
Using the stages of Erikson’s developmental model, an outline of my sister, Alina’s, life will illustrate how the early events of her life shaped her development as a person today. This essay will be explaining and pushing into depth of her critical situation, while using references from his model, and the crisis model. As Alina grew up, she had an undoubted secure attachment with my parents, as well as I did. Each stage as described in Erikson’s model accurately represents how she was back then, and is now.…
Renowned Psychologist, Erik Erikson has 8 stages of psychological stages which are: Trust vs mistrust, autonomy vs. shame and doubt, initiative vs. guilt, industry vs. inferiority, identity vs. confusion, intimacy vs. isolation, generativity vs. stagnation, and integrity v. despair. These stages cover the life span from birth to death. People who successfully go through each conflict gain a new understanding of themselves and are psychologically successful. On the other hand, people have fail to pass these conflicts aren’t able to really have that strong sense of self-actualization. Trust vs. Mistrust is the first stage of Erik Erikson’s conflicts.…
The eight stages of Erik Erikson’s psychosocial development identify the developmental pattern a normal individual would experience from birth to death. The first stage is trust versus mistrust. You experience this from birth to the first year of your life. Who the baby could rely on for care, affection, and warmth will develop the baby’s sense of trust. Inadequate care may lead to developmental or personality problems in the near future.…
For my second observation, I viewed a male toddler, approximately three years old. Notable physical development included the ability to walk quickly and climb upon a chair and to sit up straight, and feel himself, including using a spoon to eat ice cream. He was also able to run well at this stage. Notable social skills and interaction were that he appeared to interact verbally with the adults. The child cried when he fell down but was quickly soothed by and adult female (presumably the mother).…
Erik Erikson came up with each stage of life that has its own psychological development task which is a crisis that needs resolution. There are eight stages of psychological development beginning at infancy (to one year) through late adulthood (late 60s and up). He states that infants develop trust when their needs are met, toddlers learn to be independent, preschoolers learn to do tasks, elementary school children learn the pleasure of applying themselves to tasks, adolescence teens learn to test their roles and find identity, young adults struggle to find a relationships or feel isolated, middle adults discover sense into contributing to the world or may feel lack of purpose, and in late adulthood, they reflect on their lives and may be satisfied…
Another concept seen in the movie is Erikson’s theory of psychological development. This theory suggests that development is psychosocial and occurs throughout the lifespan. It has eight stages: infancy, early childhood, play age, school age, adolescence, young adult, adulthood, and maturity and states that motivation is driven by a desire to connect with others socially (Stott, 2017). Erikson also focused on psychological crises, or an internal conflict of each stage that must be overcome to move forward in development. As mentioned above, the individuals in The Sandlot are around the ages of ten to eleven years old which are categorized in the “school age” of Erikson’s life stages.…
Erik Erikson was a famous Psychologist who had a theory about psychosocial stages all humans go through. (book) The first stage spans from birth to the 1 year mark. The stage is trust vs mistrust which should determine whether or not you have faith in people or expect the worst from people. The next stage is autonomy vs shame and doubt (ages 1-3) decides whether or not you will be independent or doubtful of your abilities.…
Introduction On November 22, 2015, I interviewed someone about on their personal development based off Erikson’s stages of development. We met at a local coffee shop in Topeka that both of us were familiar with. I chose to study this particular stage of development because it is the one I am currently preparing the most for. The decisions I make today will prepare for and affect my future.…
Sigmund Freud's psychosexual theory of development vs Erik Erikson's psychosocial theory of development Erik Erikson's psychosocial theory and Sigmund Freud's psychosexual theory are two famous theories of human development. While he was affected by Freud's ideas, Erikson's theory differed in a number of important ways. Like Freud, Erikson believed that personality develops in a series of predetermined stages. Unlike Freud’s theory of psychosexual stages, Erikson’s theory describes the impact of social experience across the whole lifespan.…

Erikson’s stages go all the way through life, rather than just childhood. With each stage comes new challenges that help each individual develop and learn from their experiences. Erikson focuses on finding one’s self and building relationships with others. “Instead of focusing on cognitive development, however, he was interested in how children socialize and how this affects their sense of self. According to the theory, successful completion of each stage results in a healthy personality and successful interactions with others (Chapter 3).”…

Like nutrition and physical health, psychological and social growth is as equally important to child development. Erik H. Erikson had classified the elements of identity formation into eight stages within the human lifespan (Karkouti, 2014). The nine years old twins are at the school age of Erikson’s theoretical framework, emphasizing industry versus inferiority that establishes to competence (Capps, 2012). Hence, Erikson’s developmental theory is a significant influence in Jamie and Johnna’s personal development.…
