Middle School Mission Statement Paper

The mission statement of Bamberg-Ehrhardt Middle School is, “In partnership with home and community, is to provide effective educational experiences for diverse learners in a caring environment that lead to increased student achievement and a successful transition to high school.” Bamberg-Ehrhardt Middle school consists of grades 7 through 8 with 213 students-- 54% Male, 46% female, 55% African American, 43% White, and 1% Other. Bamberg County Census poverty is 27%. All school districts in Bamberg One participate in the Community Eligibility program where all students are served free breakfast and lunch. There are 47% of students in Bamberg-Ehrhardt Middle school who receive free or reduced lunch. According to This We Believe: Keys to Education Young Adolescents, I believe Bamberg-Ehrhardt Middle School, goes hand-in-hand with the specific elements of this law. However, I believe Bamberg-Ehrhardt Middle School could specify and extend their mission statement even further. I believe leadership and organization are great and effective characteristics to have not only in a school but a school system. According to This We Believe, Leadership and Organization should demonstrate the following characteristics: Ongoing professional development, a shared vision, committed and knowledgeable leaders, and organizational structures that foster learning and meaningful relationships. In Bamberg-Ehrhardt Middle School’s mission statement, there was not any reference to show leadership and/organization within the school’s environment.
