Emma had left SJN but there were two new fifth graders joining the band, Molly and Elizabeth. It was fun teaching them and hearing them play. About half way through the year, ETSBOA junior clinic came around. ETSBOA junior clinic is a band competition where you go behind a curtain and play a prepared piece of music, your five major scales, the chromatic scale, and sight read, playing a piece of music you have never seen before. My band director had asked me if I wanted to do ETSBOA. I wasn't really sure what it was at the time but I signed up for it anyways. I practiced the prepared piece a little bit but not enough to be prepared for competition. I also didn't know any of my scales. I arrived at the competition very confused and nervous. Once i was registered, I waited in line for what seemed like days and when it was finally my turn I went in the room to play. I settled myself in and that is when I panicked! I tried to calm myself down and it helped a little bit. I played the first note of the music and immediately started crying and was unable to stop. I grabbed the music and ran out of the room into my mom's arms. The lady in charge of the flute section of the competition asked if I wanted a second chance, but I was ready to go home. That day I swore to never do ETSBOA junior clinic EVER
