In a great example of bipartisanship, President Ronald Reagan and the Democratic Congress worked together in 1986 and reformed America’s tax code. The result of that effort led to America’s corporate income tax rate being slashed from fifty percent to thirty-five percent. Since then, attempts to continue lowering America’s corporate income tax rate have failed, leaving America with the fourth highest corporate income tax in the world. Recently, I introduced a bill in the House of Representatives, H.R. 2…

WOOSTER — A meeting with U.S. House Republicans and Vice President-elect Mike Pence has two area congressmen feeling upbeat about the new administration’s priorities. Republicans Bob Gibbs (Lakeville) and Jim Renacci (Wadsworth) were among those attending a meeting with Pence, who said President-elect Donald Trump wants to make sure his administration keeps its promises made to Americans during the presidential campaign. “It was a good meeting,” said Gibbs, whose 7th Congressional District includes all or parts of Holmes, Ashland, Medina, Tuscarawas, Stark, Lorain, Huron, Richland, Holmes, Knox and Coshocton. “It is an aggressive agenda, and I think the No. 1 thing is that we will keep our promises.” “The most important thing is Vice President-elect…

Sorkin discusses Jeb Bush’s tax plan and how his tax plan effects the people that fund him. Sorkin talks about Bush targeting Private Equity firms that usually are the businesses that fund his campaign. I decided to not use this article because I found an outlined version of Jeb Bush’s tax plan by Jeb Bush who said the same thing as Sorkin. I felt it was more effective for this message to come from Bush rather than an outside source like…

It has now been one year during Trump’s time in presidency, and it would seem as though that his administration has yet to hit any of the big milestones that promised during their campaign. While they did gain some small victories in the past, it does not seem as though they would it big as of now. Even so, they still face nonstop backlash towards their approach to our government’s lawmaking and policymaking ideals. And yet, they will still continue to move forward, and stay on the same agenda, to which is the path of a businessman whom seeks out for a wealthy and stronger America. In fact, this is quite similar to what our previous president, known as Richard Reagan, had in mind as well.…

This very minor and does not really create much revenue to counteract national debt, it only appeases citizens. Moreover, Trump can also do away with this “new business income rate” which is suppose to stimulate growth of jobs and new businesses. This stipulation is a new idea and should be implemented once the tax reform is passed via further reforms. Trumps tax plan relies on the slashing of corporate taxes, and the lowering of the maximum marginal rate. These are the pillars he need to preserve as a base of his reforms; he needs to atleast get these primary provisions implemented in the reform.…

This is just one of the many instances where the rights of Puerto Ricans were infringed upon US officials appointed to the government in Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico’s Gag Law (Law 53) was enacted with the specific purpose to overpower the nationalist movement in the island. This law made it a crime to display the flag of Puerto Rico, sing a patriotic tune, or assemble with regard to the issue of the political status of the island. The sanctions imposed on anyone found violating this law were imprisonment for ten years, a $10,000 fine, or both. The National Guard was allowed to enter the private home of any person suspected of violating the Gag Law without a warrant and be susceptible to search and seizure.…

The first article essentially argued that Trump tax cut benefited no one and had very little public support. It stated that the GOP proposed tax reform would raise taxes on most individuals including the middle class, add 13 million Americans to the ranks of uninsured all to pay for corporate tax cuts. After making these points, the article shifted gears into discussing how even CEO’s don’t support the idea. This is because they understand that changing tax rates is not that important a factor in business investment. Therefore, a huge tax cut would not lead to more spending.…

In “Empire of Illusion” by Chris Hedges, Hedges states that “the most essential skill...is artifice.” The dictionary definition of artifice can be paraphrased as using tricks to deceive others, someone who is clever or cunning; though I wouldn’t use clever as a description of someone who is artifice. From personal experience, being artifice is not something that can help you, matter of a fact, it can kill. Many use artifice to use others to their own benefits, even if it means turning an entire population against another.…

The Department of Homeland Security indicates that there are 11.4 million illegal immigrants within the United States; however, only about 1 million immigrants are lawfully granted permanent residency each year (“Immigration Statistics Fast Facts”). The majority of the presidential candidates advocate for immigration reform, but no one’s idea of reform is as interesting as that of Donald Trump.
