Did you know that in 5 seconds going 55mph you can go a whole football field. Say you were looking at your phone for those 5 seconds, that is a long distance to cover without seeing. Sending a text will completely take your focus off the road. Imagine that you were going even faster than that, you have to take into consideration how dangerous distracted driving is. Texting and driving is unsafe for the driver and everyone else on the road so therefore should be illegal.
