When most people see a sweet tiny fluffy puppy, they just think about how cute it is, but all i can think about is how could someone be so spiteful to hurt such a cute defenseless animal? About 65% of U.S households, or 85 million families own a pet. Imagine your pet brutally beaten, so thin you can see its rib cage, bleeding from infected wounds, one eyeball, and maybe even losing a limb. Im sure you can’t even imagine how awful it would be. What could possibly urge someone to pursue such a devious act? We may never know the answer to that question, but what we do know is that there are a lot of animals in need, and sadly there are many types of this abuse that occurs. Is this how we should treat the meat we eat? Female pigs are used to breed piglets for pork and spend most of their lives in metal cages barely bigger than their body. Cows are also used to breed , and the calves are used to make veal. Calves being made to veal are restrained by their necks in small metal cages, unable to sit comfortably or move around. How would you feel living the life of an animal like this? The conditions of the slaughterhouse are anything but extraordinary. The carcasses of dead animals are hanging and laying all over, some even hitting the floor. Some skinned and unskinned touching each other causing bacteria. The Mayo Clinic says there are many benefits to eating less meat. The main reason we should stop eating less meat is for our health. Eating a plant based diet, which consists mostly of fruits, vegetables, and beans can improve your health tremendously. People who are vegetarians eat fewer calories, weigh less, and have a lower risk of heart disease than people who do eat meat. The Mayo Clinic research has displayed that what you don’t eat can also hurt you. It shows that diets low in nuts, seeds, seafood, fruits, and vegetables also increase the risk of death. Animal abuse is not just limited to pets. There is so many types of animal abuse, and why don’t we stop it? Are we just selfish? Do we not care?
