Colombia is the only South American country with coastlines on both the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. Their is no winter in Colombia because it is near the equator. Colombia’s land covers 1,141,748 square kilometers. This is the same size as Spain, Portugal and France put together. It borders the countries of Venezuela, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, and Panama. Colombia has a real rainforest which is 60% untouched. A third of Colombia is an Amazon jungle. Colombia’s name came from the name Christopher Columbus. The name went through a few changes until the Republic of Colombia was adopted in 1886.
