Chick-Fil-A, a company based out of Atlanta Georgia, is recognized nationally for their version of creating "the original chicken sandwich." With over 1700 restaurants in about 40 states, Chick-fil-A ranks number 2 in the chicken sandwich industry. The restaurants success can be due to continuing to sell its core items and expanding slowly from its home base in the southeast to other states (Hoover). Chick-fil-A is well known for their excellent customer service, religious background, and enthusiast employees. With these attributes, the business can rely on the hiring and staffing of honest hard working employees that understand what it takes to live up the reputation of the company. Scholarships are awarded to young employees which makes for excellent incentives, and hours are flexible so the employees can focus on their outside careers as well as their work environment. Other competitors such as Red Robyn, Zaxby's, and Popeye's pose a threat to the company’s business and performance. It is important to the Chick-fil-A executives to stay true to their original menu, while also offering other options such as grilled, salads, etc. This allows for customers to have a wider range of variety when choosing a meal, as well as healthier options. Another competitor threat is fast food chains such as McDonald's and Wendy's that offer chicken sandwiches as well as red meat sandwiches such as big mac's and Dave's Hot single burgers. With Chick-fil-A's main slogan "eat more chicken," don't expect them to get into that market anytime soon.
