Capital improvements are improvements that add value to the property which will consequently increase its useful life (“Capital Improvement”, n.d). In order for an improvement to be classified as a capital improvement it must meet three requirements: increase the value of the property, become a part of the property in a way that detachment would destroy the property, and the intention of the improvement should be a permanent addition (“Capital Improvement”, n.d).
