Coming from a small high school, Caltech's small size appeals to me as I have experienced that benefits of getting to personally know all my teachers and peers. At larger school, students are treated just like a number, making it harder to access resources or try things for the first time. The small size also contributes to strong friendships and community bonds. After conversing with alumni, I discovered that one eventually knows everyone in his or her class by the end of the first month, and everyone at the school by the time the year ends resulting in a great alumnus connections.
