A former member (Mr X) from Blockbuster (located in his local area) describes his working experience there as inspiring, and enjoyable. For Mr X. his part-time job had a huge impact on his career choice. Mr X expressed how dealing with customers’ ideas and opinions about movies which they have rented, given him insight into storytelling and overtime, he formed his own ideas for games and movies. Today, Mr X (personal communication, October 17, 2015) is proudly undergoing an Advance Diploma of Screen & Digital Media in order to further his knowledge and skills in the movie business. Mr X. found his job very meaningful both financially and experience wise. When asked why? He replied, “if not for my position at Blockbuster retail, I may have very well chosen a completely different field to study in and begin my subsequent career” (Mr X, personal communication, October 17, 2015). This demonstrates how a good job with positive energy can be inspiring, be so meaningful and make a huge difference in an individual’s life. This could also be an example of heliotropic effect, as there were so many positiveness around the workplace; all workers were attracted to it.
Mr X always showed respect to his co-workers and greatly respected his employer and in return, he believes, he had received a lot back from all of them.
