Beyoncé was born on September 4, 1981, in Houston, Texas. She performed in numerous dancing and singing competitions and talent shows as a child. Beyoncé rose to fame and first captured the public’s eye in the late 1990s as lead singer of the R&B girl-group Destiny’s Child. Mathew Knowles was Beyoncé father and manager of the group which became one of the world’s best-selling girl groups in history.
