In the book Atticus is shown as a more calm and collective man. For example on pg.96 Atticus says, “I haven’t shot a gun in thirty year-” (Lee.96). This meant that Atticus didn’t want to shoot the animal but he did. For example when Atticus was doing his case Mr. Ewell was vicious to him and his children, “According to Miss Stephanie Crawford, however, Atticus was leaving the post office when Mr. Ewell approached him, cursed him, spat on him, and threatened to kill him. Miss Stephanie said Atticus didn’t bat an eye, just took out his handkerchief and wiped his face and stood there and let Mr. Ewell call him names wild horses could not bring her to repeat. So Mr. Ewell said, “Too proud to fight, you n****r-lovin’ bastard?” And Atticus replied, “No, too old,” put his hands in his pockets and strolled on. (Lee.217). During this first paragraph it showed that Atticus was more of a man who didn’t stand down or stop the case because of one man. Atticus acted more mature than most people would have during that situation.
Atticus is a true role model whether it was being a Lawyer or a good father. Atticus can sure handle a pair of wild children because most people look up to him even though they all didn't like him standing up for Tom Robinson.
