What Is Attendance Policy Essay

Good Essays
The attendance policy should have some type of limit towards it. Being a college student you will have emergencies, death in the family, and doctors’ appointments which it will affect your school attendance. The SACS Members should be a little more lenient on college student’s attendance, because they’re human beings and should understand that they’ve had unexpected situations to come up in their lives. We as students shouldn’t have such a strict attendance. We as students should not allow this to go on when there is something we can do about the attendance policy. There will be unexpected things to happen in our lives which we can’t control. There could be death in the family which it forces us to take a couple of days out of school. If …show more content…
Attendance is known to help us be responsible in life instead of acting irresponsible like our high school days. My opponent may also say that we that being lenient on attendance may cause consequences for students, and a bad reputation for the school itself. Students may start to lack in their school work with a lenient attendant policy, and the absentees will continue to increase. Classes would be dismissed earlier than usual, and maybe even teacher will barely show up for class, because of the many absent of students who continue to not show up. Teacher may even start to make attendance a part of their daily grades. It will get so bad that will be like high school days, and students will want to make up for their absentees for the load of homework in which they …show more content…
There should be a number limit of absences for all students especially the ones who take session classes and fast track classes. This will still allow the students to show responsibility as young adults growing up in life. There is no way possible we as students will be able to attend school every day without no hesitation. Things will happen where we have no control over them, and we can’t just say “well there is no way to miss a day of school”. Even if someone tells us to save our days there aren’t really much days to, because those few days will be used in a matter of no time. There was a girl this girl in my class who told some of the students that she had to go home, because her child was sick and the next day she went back to school she was informed that she was dropped out of one of her class. She’s in fast track classes which only allowed her three absences, and nine times out of ten the other two absences has an excuse for the reason of her absence. This is what happens to students when unexpected things pop up which is out of our control and we can’t help that things happen in life. As it was stated in the first paragraph that the SACS member can handle any emergency of their which is not fair to us as students. We have a life just as they do, and we’re human beings with need just as they so why is it different when they need handle their emergencies and when we have to handle ours? There is nothing

Mandatory attendance polices may punish students for missing class more than their actual academic performance and further jeopardize them. The student’s final grade should be based on their understanding of the material rather than on their ability to show up. As long as a student completes coursework and proves their competence through satisfying learning outcomes, they shouldn’t lose additional points for not attending…

I would also love a way to incorporate all families more into the classroom. Some students fall behind not because they are not capable but because their families do not care whether or not their child succeeds. This only starts a negative cyclical pattern. The child whose family does not care whether or not they miss class already has the disadvantage. First, they will get penalized for missing so many school days by either detention or in school suspension.…

Every day in Middle and High School, at least one homework assignment is assigned to students. Many students succeed, but others fail for a variety of reasons. Many times, homework leads to frustration and stress causing many students to give up on homework. The concepts become harder, workload increases, and the pressure of college is starting to sink in. With these changes, many students find themselves struggling in school. The good news is that all teachers who have actively or passively failing students in their classes can adopt particular strategies and tactics of teaching that may prove beneficial in helping failing students improve their course performance. The parents may also begin to believe that their kids are not focusing in school when they start bringing home loads of homework (Wallace). These thoughts could bring unfair treatment on to the student and the school because the parents will not know what is going on in the classroom. The main reason elementary students do not need so much homework is because it will affect their health and put stress on the family. The student is a kid who needs time to interact with other people. Making them work on two hours of homework while other people are playing will stress the students out.…

If you are not there and something happens the blame is going to fall on the school. Teachers use attendance to refer back to your grades. For example, if you are not doing well in a class they are going to look at your attendance and determine if it’s because you are always missing class or if you truly do not understand the material. Recent polls and debates suggest that professors should be required to take attendance. In my opinion, college professors should not be required to take attendance unless that is a decision made by them.…

When asked about the passing time, George Howard explained that, most of the time, students that have classes stationed at both levels of the school and lesser time to make it to class are the one who are extremely affected by this congested hallways. If there were more supervisions and work been put in by both the students and teachers to make things less difficult and more efficient. Teachers expect students to adjust quickly to the new changes this school year. Whenever the argument is brought up teachers would strongly disagree with the problem, stating the passing time is sufficient and since the time was shortened students are more serious to get to class faster than standing in the hallways talking with their peers. When asked about the situation, teachers thinks the time is probably too long since most of the time students would crowd the hallways, chatting with their friends rather than getting to class.…
