Democracy comes from the greek word demokratia. Demo meaning “the people” and kratia meaning “power of rule.” Democracy is one of the most common types of government in modern times. The Athens democracy developed around the fifth century BC in polis. I believe Athens was a democracy due to the fact that they voted on legislation and executive bills.
