This is not true. The boys do not as much free will as they think. They elected ralph as the leader and he put his personal input in. This resulted in the boys not expressing their feelings and slowing down what they wanted to do. This caused decisions to not reach the full capability of how it could impact the boys. Fight or flight isn't important to the boys. They are not animals and they make decisions according to their powers. Also the only animals they seem to encounter don't seem to express fight or flight and seem harmless; however, they did overkill the pig. If the boys did experience this to the max their personalities would be impacted also the story would have ended really differently. Therefore the boys do not experience free will and fight or flight rather they experience the will to survive and betrayal. This helps by developing the story and showing the boys development and the lessons
