Henry Adams, a Historian and Politician once said, “A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops”, this is very true because although I wish to impact the daily lives of my students, I also want them to be capable of having difficult, controversial and complicated conversation and be able to think with a rational and coherent mind. We find this theme in the Bible with Timothy, in 2 Timothy 1:5 Timothy is reminded that his faith through Christ is because his mom was taught by his Grandmother who lived to be faithful to Christ as he is. As Christ, being the great teacher, taught his disciples and was an example to his disciples and later on Paul, a teacher is an example to his students, impacting every decision and inevitably having an impact on the future. Like Christ and Paul, I wish to teach but also be an example to my students. I want to be a teacher because of the influence and place I would have on young minds that are willing to learn. Money, benefits, union, and all the material things will pass someday, even I will pass someday to the presence of my God but the impact I leave behind can resonate into history without me knowing. Christ our teacher left behind his word for us to use in our lives, but he called us to spread it around the world and not just keep it to ourselves.
