Synopsis
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak is narrated by Death in 1938. Liesel Meminger moves away to the home of her new foster parents, Hans and Rosa Hubermann. The kind and friendly house painter, Hans finds out that Liesel does not know how to read or write. Liesel was not so fond of Hans until she rolled cigarettes with him, there was no exact reason why she liked this hobby so much, she probably liked to help her Papa. Liesel meets her best friend Rudy Steiner who has longed for a kiss from Liesel from when they met on the first day of school. Liesel and Rudy go through some economic troubles when the World War 1, and finds their first thief activity. The first theft was a simple book Liesel stole from the remainings of the fire from the

The main character Liesel Meminger was good hearted, well rounded. Liesel’s foster mom was easier to relate to because the mom truly loved everyone in her family but just did not show her true emotions on the outside. She reminds me of me because I am the trouble maker in my family and it may look like I don’t love my family but I really do.
This book is extremely boring in the beginning because the only thing in the beginning is the introductions to our characters, but towards the middle and end the characters start to form their personalities such as love, caring, and slyness. Liesel was shy and quiet in the beginning but towards the end she became more of a daredevil and risk taker. The end got exciting because all of the puzzle pieces started to come into place and finally make that Ah Ha moment. One issue I had with the book was the language because a lot of the time when the characters speak they speak Russian. In this book there was a lot of use of strong language and Russian swear words. The Book Thief should be rated for others that are 12+. This book to me is four stars because there are a lot of things going on and a little hard to comprehend, also everybody in the book develops a love for one another. Overall this book is really good, all characters find what their true emotions for each

In spite of changes and destructions on one’s emotional and physical state, there is always beauty in the wake of brutality. This is a key representation throughout “The Book Thief” by Markus Zusak and “V for Vendetta” directed by James McTeigue, in which both successfully emphasises the the concepts of rebellion towards a totalitarianism government and the power of words. ‘The Book Thief’ parallels with the contextual influences of the Nazi Party ruled by Adolf Hitler in the 1930s. Whereas ‘V for Vendetta’ draws a direct correlation from the horrendous acts in Iraq governed by Geroge Bush subsequent to the infamous attack of 9/11. During distratrous time, individuals who are amidst difficult situation, should realise that there is always…
