The Hero, his or her quest, and his or her ideals are still valid and useful because they are based off of us. The Hero of many stories are based on our personalities and our ideals. In a way, we see ourself as the Hero of our quest, which is life. Maybe our quest is about getting straight A’s or getting a girlfriend. They are similar to the quest of heroes in many stories, even if they aren't exactly the same. Let’s say that you are trying to audition for a school play. You are the hero, and you getting on stage is you, the hero, crossing the threshold.
